CNN Calls Trump A Racist, El Paso Mayor Disagrees

It all started with CNN’s host Jake Tapper piggybacking off former Congressman Beto O’Rourke’s earlier remarks on CNN’s “State of the Union” calling the President a racist.

Tapper apparently attempted to bait the El Paso Mayor, Dee Margo, by asking if he agreed with O’Rourke that Trump was a racist.

However, the former 67-year-old businessman turned mayor didn’t take the bait – although not for lack of trying by Tapper who repeated the question several times hoping to elicit a response in the affirmative.

“Former Congressman from El Paso, Beto O’Rourke, told me earlier in the show that, in his view, the President’s anti-immigrant rhetoric is making things worse and creating an atmosphere of violence. Do you agree? Do you have any concerns about the things President Trump says about immigrants?” Tapper asked.

Margo looking directly at Tapper responded, “Jake, I’m not qualified to make a comment on that. I’m not a talking head. I’m focusing on the El Pasoans and the 20 deaths, their families and what it means to this community and how we can come together and not be victimized by this,” Margo responded. “This will not define us. We are a unique region that’s been here for 350 years. There are families on both sides. There’s commerce on both sides. We’re bi-national and bi-cultural. We’re almost 2.5 million people and our average age is 32. This will not define us.”

Tapper then attempted to once again bait Mayor Margo stating, “The Texas Land Commissioner, George P. Bush, said in a statement that ‘white terrorism’ is a ‘real and present threat that we must all denounce and defeat.’ Do you agree that white terrorism is a threat to the United States?”

Mayor Margo once again refused to be drawn into a political discussion by jumping to conclusions, while investigators were still attempting to identify those murdered or wounded, stating, “Jake, I’m not qualified to respond to that any more than the previous question. I’m focusing on El Paso. There’s evil in this world and it’s unfortunate.”

Earlier in the show before the Mayor Margo segment, O’Rourke went into a hate-filled rant against the President that can only be described as “unhinged,” perhaps the same general classification that one might subscribe to the two gunmen in El Paso and Ohio, after Tapper asked O’Rourke a simple question: “Do you think President Trump is a white nationalist?”

What followed from O’Rourke’s lips was frightening.

“Yes, I do. And, again, from some of the record I just recited to you, the things that he has said, both as a candidate and then as President of the United States, this cannot be open for debate,” O’Rourke explained. “And you, as well as I, have a responsibility to call that out and make sure that the American people understand what is being done in their name, by the person who holds the highest position of public trust in this land.”

“He does not even pretend to respect our differences or to understand that we are all created equal. He is saying some people are inherently defective or dangerous, reminiscent of something you might hear in the Third Reich, not expect in the United States of America, based on their religion, their sexual orientation, their immigration status, based on the countries that they come from, calling those in Africa ‘sh**hole nations,’ and saying he’d like to have more immigration from Nordic countries, the whitest place on planet Earth today”.

Adding, “And, let’s be very clear about what is causing this, and who the President is. He is an open, avowed racist and encouraging more racism in this country and it’s incredibly dangerous for the United States of America right now,” he said. “All of us have a responsibility to stand up and be counted on this issue.”

Ironically O’Rourke has no problem in doing the same thing he accuses the President of doing, however unlike the President who loves America “warts and all,” O’Rourke has made it obediently clear by his past rants, that America itself is “clearly an imperfect, unfair, unjust and racist capitalist economy.” In short, Beto hates America as much as he hates Trump
