The Baltimore Sun apparently disenchanted with the fact that Trump supporter Scott Presler after witnessing the filth and blight within their city decided to help out, by organizing a voluntary clean-up campaign dubbed “Americans to help Americans.”
Rather than being grateful that someone had organized a cleanup campaign, the Sun’s editorial board went into a full-frontal attack on organizer Presler, apparently furious that the Trump supporter took it upon himself to help those poor residents in West Baltimore, living in rat invested squalor.
On Monday, after the clean-up was completed and the organizer was revealed as a MAGA supporter of the President, the unhinged editorial board collectively penned an op-ed with a snarky title dubbed “We assume it was pure motives that led a Trump supporter to launch a cleanup in Cummings’ district, right?”
Ironically that rhetorical question could have been posed to the editorial staff of the Baltimore Sun as to why they haven’t successfully used their media platform to actually hold their political leaders like Cummings accountable for the continued decay within the inner city?
Rather than answer that pivotal question the op-ed focused on the collective motives of the 100 plus volunteers who came from all over the country venturing into a dangerous environmentally hazardous situation.
However the editorial board saw it differently, writing, “The effort was organized by pro-Trump activist Scott Presler. He claimed the event was not political. Yes, he was inspired to come by tweets from President Donald Trump describing the area, represented by U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, as a ‘rodent-infested mess,'” the editors wrote. “But the visit wasn’t about showing support or animosity for either man, he said.”
The editorial continued, vacillating between begrudgingly thanking the volunteers while criticizing their motives. “Call us skeptical,” the paper remarked before going off on a litany of excuses, condemning those who came to clean up their city. “Look, we appreciate anyone who is willing to roll up their sleeves to help Baltimore” the op-ed concluded.
According to Presler’s Twitter feed.” the paper claimed that more than 170 people came from all over the country and cleaned up nearly 12 tons of trash.
The paper seemed particularly irked by the notoriety of having out-of-towners especially Trump supporters coming into their Democratic enclave stating within their op-ed, “But if this was all about “Americans helping Americans,” why all the videos of Baltimore residents thanking Mr. Trump for bringing attention to the issue? We happen to know that not everybody in West Baltimore feels that way, and in the same posts as the videos, why the frequent reminders that this is in Mr. Cummings’ district?”
The simple and most obvious answer to the paper’s question is because it is Cummings’ district for better then 2-decades, and apparently no one has lifted a finger to help clean-up the garbage for almost 10-years.
Which is another reason why the Baltimore Sun attacked Presler in their op-ed. He posted a photo of a newspaper from President Barack Obama’s inauguration dated 2008 that the organizers and volunteers stumbled upon while hauling debris from the streets, suggesting that no one has cleaned up this wasteland of filth for almost a decade…
Moreover after Presler’s visit to West Baltimore became news, the Baltimore Sun had no choice but to acknowledge the 12-hour clean-up along with the 12-tones of trash removed, which simply reinforced the President’s claim that public officials along with the media are either incompetent, corrupt or both.
The editorial board of the Baltimore Sun attempted to excuse their own culpability regarding the dilapidated condition within West Baltimore by attempting to justify their journalistic inaction, blaming it on death threats from junkies and gangs lurking within that hellhole, saying, “Does Mr. Presler know that drug dealers use trash to hide their product and have been known to threaten people who try to clean it up? The solutions are just not that simple.” The paper also blamed people from out of town who dump trash in the city illegally.
And yet better than a 100 volunteers came and cleaned up decades of fifth and garbage in 12-hours and left, without incident.
The Baltimore Sun along with Elijah Cummings and the rest of those inept and corrupt Democratic leaders should be ashamed of themselves for how they have willfully mistreated their fellow Baltimoreans for decades.
