Are Biden’s Legendary Gaffes Causes For Concern?

Democrat or Republican, what we witnessed last weekend concerning former Vice President Joe Biden should worry us all.

Watching the gaffe-prone politician attempting to navigate through his recollections of past events confusing and conflating dates along with his years as Vice President brought back some stark memories of watching an elderly relative suffering from the onslaught of dementia attempting to piece together past events of their lives.

Biden’s infamous gaffes in the past were usually a slip of the tongue that he would usually clean-up on the spot. However this time after watching the brief video clip several times, Biden seemed genuinely confused about the shooting at Parkland and the years he served as Vice President, worst yet he continued the convoluted narrative by suggesting that the students at Parkland came to visit him after the shooting.

Biden told reporters in Iowa on Saturday that “those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was Vice President.” But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, lawmakers were “basically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera.”

Remarkably he concluded his narrative still believing he was Vice President when the Parkland massacre took place in 2018.

It wasn’t until later after his remarks made the rounds within the media, pointing out the obvious gaffes, that an official within the Biden camp finally acknowledged that the former Vice President had confused the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, with the Parkland shooting in Florida.

However, the damage had already been done with social media lighting up the internet.

“NEW: Joe Biden said he was vice president when the deadly high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, took place. Except, it happened in 2018, two years after he left office — the latest gaffe by the Democratic presidential front-runner.”

The former Vice President who turns 77 this November had a gaffe-prone week in Iowa beginning on Thursday when he told a  group of Asian and Hispanic voters in the “The Hawkeye State” that “poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids.”

As the nonstop campaigning continued Biden seemed to lose his focus, stumbling over words, and at times stopping in the middle of a thought as if having trouble remembering what he was about to say.

The President spent the weekend at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey and apparently took note of Biden’s numerous gaffes — tweeting that the former Vice President “doesn’t have a clue.”

“Joe Biden just said, “We believe in facts, not truth.” Does anybody really believe he is mentally fit to be president? We are “playing” in a very big and complicated world. Joe doesn’t have a clue!”

Whether Biden’s memory loss is due to age or perhaps worst yet, in the early stages of dementia, we as voters need to know.

Dr. Paul Fishman, a professor of neurology at the University of  Maryland School of Medicine and a neurologist at UMD’s Medical Center. “Dementia is very common, and in general it is under-diagnosed, rather than over-diagnosed.”
