It was without a doubt one of the most amusing video’s of late, watching a profanity-laced Chris Cuomo totally melting down after an alleged Trump supporter referenced the loony CNN host as “Fredo.”
“Fredo” for those unfamiliar with perhaps the most significant film within cinema history is the name of the oldest son within this iconic masterpiece “The Godfather” portraying an immigrant Italian family at the turn of the century, migrating to America, and creating one of the most powerful crime families in New York City, ruled by Crime boss Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando.
Cuomo’s apparent rage at being called “Fredo” stems from the fact that the character portrayed in the film, is an idiot, a bumbling fool that although he’s the oldest son within the Corleone clan, he’s reduced to sitting on the sideline, given menial tasks while his younger brother Michael, played by Al Pacino, takes over the crime empire, after the death of Don Corleone.
The brief video captures an enraged and menacing Cuomo dropping a torrent of f-bombs at the bemused individual who had apparently asked for an autograph calling out to Chris Cuomo as “Fredo.”
What ensued next was certainly not a Hallmark moment, with Cuomo seemingly on the verge of violence, against the two perplexed individuals shouting, “Punk-ass b–ches on the right call me Fredo.”
He then explains why he finds the term “Fredo” offensive.
“He was a weak brother. And they use it as an Italian aspersion. Are any of you Italian? Are you Italian? It’s an f–king insult to your people. It’s an insult to your f–king people.” He then claimed that “Fredo” is the N-word to Italians. “Is that a cool f–king thing?”
The other man in the video then mockingly tells Cuomo that he is “a much more reasonable guy in person than you seem to be on television,” to which Cuomo responds, “If you want to play, we’ll f–king play.”
The two unidentified individuals apparently attempting to explain why they assumed Cuomo’s name was “Fredo,” however by this time Cuomo had worked himself into an uncontrolled tantrum scowling “You’re gonna have an f–king problem. It’s a little different on TV. Don’t f–king insult me like that.
However, the back story claimed by this individual on a YouTube video is that he had assumed Chris Cuomo’s first name was “Fredo” because conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh would constantly reference Cuomo as “Fredo” so the individual actually thought his name was “Fredo.”
CNN spokesman says they “completely support” Cuomo after video shows him going off on a guy who called him “Fredo.”
As usual social media was abuzz.
“Devin Nunes was referred to as “Fredo” on CNN in March. CNN’s David Gregory compared @DonaldJTrumpJr to “Fredo” in February. And in January, CNN’s Ana Navarro referred to @DonaldJTrumpJr as “Fredo”…to Cuomo on his own show.

In fairness of full disclosure, I’m a first-generation Italian/American both my parents were born in Italy, and I’ve never heard the term “Fredo” used as an ethnic slur or for that matter ever used in describing an Italian.
However listening to Chris Cuomo’s thuggish rant, he actually sounds more like Joe Pesci in “Goodfellas” then “Fredo” in the “Godfather”.
Moreover compare this unhinged progressive loon with what transpired awhile back in Chicago regarding Eric Trump, when a gross disgusting employee spit in his face.
The assault occurred at the Aviary cocktail bar in the city, and while Trump had every right to become unhinged, and demand the employee be arrested, he didn’t.
He simply acknowledged the obvious saying, “For a party that preaches tolerance, this once again demonstrates they have very little civility. When somebody is sick enough to resort to spitting on someone, it just emphasizes a sickness and desperation and the fact that we’re winning.”
And that’s perhaps the take-away from the Cuomo meltdown… “we’re winning!”
