Woman Attacked By Birds Sues City…

It seems as if everyone is utilizing the courts for ridiculous reasons these days. The media recently shared the story of one vegan woman who attempted to sue her neighbors for barbequing meat in their own backyard, and another person who attempted to sue a dry cleaning facility at the sum of $67 million for returning his pants a few days late!

Well, the madness continues with a woman who attempted to sue her city after she was randomly pecked by a bird that flew by while she was walking on the sidewalk.

The anonymous woman was apparently walking on the street, minding her own business when suddenly a wild bird decided that it would select her as its next victim. According to police records, the bird flew past the woman and henpecked her on the top of her head, and then simply flew away.

The woman cried fowl… I mean, foul… and called the police to report the bird. When police arrived on the scene, the woman described the bird as being black (poor color gets blamed for everything) with white speckles. At first, the police refused to take the report because they didn’t know if the woman was joking or not. However, when she began to cry and threatened to call the news, they figured she was either crazy or overly dramatic. Either way, they felt it best to take the report somewhat seriously.

According to the police report, the woman stated that she was personally selected by the bird and was attacked (albeit there were no signs of any serious injuries, according to the police report). The woman then stated that she wished to file charges against the city for allowing such a bird to threaten tax-paying citizens. When the police told the woman that they could only file a report, the woman stated that she wanted a copy so that she could file a legal claim against the city.

Thus far, there are no records to show if the woman actually filed a lawsuit against the city regarding this incident. Additionally, no officer on the scene agreed to be interviewed or leave commentary about the woman or her claim.

The most unfortunate deal about this situation is that people are clogging the judicial system with erroneous claims that often block the path of true claims that need dire attention.

There are people who are fighting injustice, fighting inequality, and fighting for their right to receive the protection of the law in which they were promised. They deserve the opportunity to have the freedom of court accessibility, rather than having their fight be delayed because the courts are too busy dealing with foolishness like this.

We may laugh at the silliness of this woman, but if you google “weird lawsuits” you will see that she’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are a number of individuals out there who are so hungry for attention that they will go to any length to ensure that people take pity on them in some way.

There needs to be a law that protects the courts against erroneous claims so that we can all be assured that the court system will be there when we need it. Seems like it’s the only way to guarantee due process for those of us who are sane.

Sounds like a thrush — sometimes called a starling. The city is filled with them. Maybe she had a worm or some crumbs in her bun? The bird should sue for false advertising

Maybe we need a lower court set up to handle minor matters that don’t seem to meet a certain level of criteria. If, in the course of trial, it should turn out that a matter before that court warrants greater attention, it could referred to a higher court. We need to find ways to unclog the current system to avoid having cases take years of litigation before being settled.
