It was indeed a tale-of-two-cities last Thursday night, as President Trump brought his “Make America Great Again” rally to the Twin City.
Inside the Target Center, more than 19,000 cheering red-clad Trump supporters waved, smiled and celebrated the festive atmosphere — despite the occasional protester being quickly ushered out of the sports complex.
A bemused Trump looked on wisecracking “go back to mommy” at the protesters which immediately sent the crowd into a universal chant of “USA, USA, USA!”
However, outside the downtown sports complex, the mood was anything but joyful, as hundreds of protesters set fire to “Make America Great Again” hats and other memorabilia.
The small vocal mob also attempted to harass Trump supporters shouting, “Lock him up” and “Shame on you.”
In one scary incident caught on video by a reporter for the Washington Post, the emotionally unhinged mob attacked a Trump supporter sucker-punching him in the back of the head as he left the rally, ironically shouting “Nazi scum, off our streets!”
The video shows a Trump supporter being followed by protesters before someone calls out “There’s a Nazi over here,” prompting the attack.
The Trump supporter was also slapped and pushed before eventually running to safety.
At one point, the mob became so threatening and unruly police on horseback and on bicycles were forced into forming a protective line in front of the arena as a defensive buffer against the lunatics working themselves into a frenzy shouting hateful profanities while hurling projectiles at police officers in riot gear and shields.
In another encounter, a Washington Post reporter captures on video a Hispanic family wearing pro-Trump clothing leaving the rally as one protester shouts out, “He hates you!” The mother turns towards the protester and shouts back “Mexicanos for Trump!” and quickly leaves the scene.
The battle-lines had been set months ago in Minneapolis when leftist Mayor Jacob Frey suddenly attempted to shake-down the Trump team by demanding a $530,000 security fee after the contract with AEG Management (the firm operating the Target Center) was signed.
The President quickly dispatched a team of lawyers, threatening to sue both AEG Management and the city of Minneapolis for “breach of contract” Mayor Fray quickly backed down from his attempted extortion scheme.
Inside the sports complex a feisty President Trump vacillated between excoriating his detractors, paying tribute to police officers, and recalling his visits to Andrews Air Force Base, where he would meet flag-draped coffins of warrior’s killed in the line of duty, and lamenting the somber task of signing letters, informing loved ones their beloved warrior had died.
At one point during the nearly 2-hour marathon, the President once again took aim at his favorite target, the stumbling bumbling former Vice President, suggesting that the only useful trait during Biden’s 8-years as Obama’s sidekick was his ability to “kiss Barack Obama’s ass.” The crowd momentarily silent ingesting what they just heard, suddenly roared with laughter, bringing many of them to their feet, and once again enjoying the camaraderie of the evening with like-minded individuals.
While outside, the crazies continued their assault on good-taste and dignity, which didn’t go unnoticed by U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina who was appearing on Fox’s “The Ingraham Angle.”
“I’ve never seen such hypocrisy in all my life,” he said, adding he had heard recently from a man who was reportedly accosted in New York for wearing a MAGA hat.
Civilians, he said, are “consistently being intimidated” and are being asked to “cower” to what he characterized as a “new, socialist regime.”
“This approach toward anarchy continues to run amok. We cannot afford that in the greatest democracy on Earth.”
There’s little if you tuned in and watched the rally you indeed witnessed a tale-of-two-cities, on one end of the spectrum a joyous event of patriots truly enjoying themselves, respecting one another in a spirit of fellowship, by contrast outside the sports complex a hateful angry mob pelting police officers with garbage and in one instance a plastic bag filled with urine, setting fires and assaulting innocent bystanders for simply supporting the President.
