Once again a violent home invasion was naturalized, thanks to the great equalizer of an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle that saved the lives of a pregnant mom, her 11-year old daughter and her badly beaten husband.
The incident began Wednesday night around 9 p.m. on Old Welcome Road in Lithia, Florida when two armed masked men forced their way into the home of Jeremy King and his pregnant wife, and began brutally assaulting him, demanding money.
“I’ve got a fractured eye socket, a fractured sinus cavity, a concussion, 20 stitches and three staples in my head,” said King, outside his home. Adding, “I took a severe beating.”
“They came in heavily hooded and masked. As soon as they had got the back door opened, they had a pistol on me and was grabbing my 11-year-old daughter,” he continued, saying the masked men were asking for money. “It became real violent, real fast.”
“I’m telling them, ‘I have nothing for you,’” King explained. “And they’re like, ‘Give me everything you got.’ It became real violent, real fast.”
King said he doesn’t know who they are or why he was targeted, stating he never met them.
However the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says they don’t believe the attack was random, the pair may have targeted the family earlier on, perhaps observing them for awhile, before striking.
The violent home invasion ended after the two masked intruders left a bloody and badly injured King semi-conscious laying on the floor, the thugs suddenly turned their attention to King’s 11-year old daughter, violently grabbing her by the arm, allowing Kings pregnant wife to reach for their hidden AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, and quickly fired several rounds at the fleeing intruders, hitting one of them killing him as he fell into a nearby ditch, while the other made good his escape.
King speaking from a hospital bed said “Them guys came in with two normal pistols and my AR stopped it,” he explained, again to Spectrum News. “She (his wife) evened the playing field and kept them from killing me.”
We still may not know all the details surrounding this violent home invasion, but we do know one thing: the AR-15 rifle allowed a woman who was 8-months pregnant to protect her husband and her daughter. It’s highly unlikely that she would have been able to take down either suspect by using her fists or feet and could very well have ended up a victim of the armed assailants instead.
However one thing is certain gun control advocates refuse to acknowledge guns save lives. Moreover our 2nd Amendment guarantees our right to bear arms, in order to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Home owners choose an AR-15 or a similar rifle for home protection. This pregnant mom would have been out-gunned if she simply had a standard handgun, she would have been outnumbered in terms of firepower.
As it turns out, an AR-15 is a fine home defense firearm, as this armed mom proved the other evening.
Nevertheless the uninformed mainstream media, either by design or by sheer ignorance continually misinforms the public.
The latest flub came from CNN reporting on the home invasion referencing the AR-15 as an “automatic rifle.”
The reporter breathlessly went on air stating, “A Florida man said two armed men invaded his home and were beating him when his wife, eight months pregnant, saved the day by shooting one of the intruders with an automatic rifle.”
Apparently few at CNN know the difference between a “semi-atomic” weapon from an “automatic” weapon, which actually tells us more regarding the state of journalism today, regarding the sample research needed to distinguish the differences.
