London Gun Control Leads To 80% Increase In Knife Attacks

Americans on holiday, celebrating Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, awoke Friday morning to the news that their neighbor across the pond in London had once again been attacked, by a deranged individual wielding a knife on the iconic London Bridge.

The attack was eerily similar and only a few yards away from the 2017 London Bridge terror attack that claimed 9-lives and over a dozen injured.

However perhaps even more profound than this latest attack is the equally disturbing data by the London Times showing “a dramatic surge in knife crime,” and homicides went on to reach a ten-year high in 2018, to a staggering 80% increase in England and Wales.

This latest incident which is in the beginning stages of the investigation, confirmed by London’s Metropolitan Police Service that 2 people have died and several were injured in the knife attack, which occurred around 1:55 pm near the London Bridge.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said, “Police were called at 1.58 pm to a stabbing at premises near to London Bridge. Emergency services attended, including officers from the Met and City of London Police. A man has been detained by police. We believe a number of people have been injured, further info to follow.”

However, moments after that announcement gunfire erupted killing the suspect, who apparently had on a fake suicide vest.

BBC correspondent John McManus said that he heard several shots fired on the bridge. “Just a few minutes ago I was walking across London Bridge on the south bank to the north bank of the bridge,” he said. “There appeared to be a fight going on the other side of the bridge, with several men attacking one man. Police then quickly arrived, including armed police, and then a number of shots were fired at this man.”

This horrific incident, although it appears because of the international media coverage to be unique, in reality, is quite common.

London’s Muslim Mayor Sadiq Khan released a statement saying in part, “The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that as a precaution the horrendous incident at London Bridge is being treated as though it’s terrorism-related.”

Breitbart News along with other news sources has been chronicling the growing epidemic of knife attacks by thugs and terrorists ever since the 2009 passage of the Firearms Act, enacted by the British government, described as “the most violent country in Europe,” along with Britain giving the “worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S.”

On September 17, 2019, Breitbart News reported that the number of murders in London had reached 110 for the year. That represented two more murders than the city had experienced by September 25, 2018, according to the London Telegraph.

The crime data from 2016 to 2018 saw a 52% increase in the number of homicides attributed to knives. That number spiked upwards on July 18, 2019, when the BBC reported that knife attacks in England and Wales increased to 80%, and an astounding 28% increase in less than a year.

Ironically, the rise in knife crimes comes as restrictive gun controls all but eliminated the ability to defend oneself in Britain.

This latest terrorist attack near London Bridge has once again ignited a firestorm on social media.

.@POTUS @realDonaldTrump has been briefed on this morning’s attack at the London Bridge and is monitoring the situation. The United States strongly condemns all horrific acts of violence on innocent people, and we pledge our full support to our Ally, the United Kingdom.
