Caucus Chaos: Conspiracy or Incompetence?

Regardless of whether the fiasco in Iowa was prompted by a conspiracy to deny Bernie Sanders front-runner status or total incompetence by the DNC, one thing is abundantly clear, the Democratic Party is in utter chaos.

In fact, the President tweeted out what many political pundits on both sides of the political aisle are quietly whispering to one another – the Democratic Iowa Caucus may have been “rigged.”

After this public embarrassment, the party of FDR can no longer be trusted to actually govern from the White House, fix America’s health care issues or implementing sweeping new government programs.

A statement Monday night at 11:30 p.m. by the IDP announced the meltdown:

“We found inconsistencies in the reporting of three sets of results. In addition to the tech systems being used to tabulate results, we are also using photos of results and a paper trail to validate that all results match and ensure that we have confidence and accuracy in the numbers we report. This is simply a reporting issue. The app did not go down and this is not a hack or an intrusion. The underlying data and paper trail is sound and will simply take time to further report the results.”

However, during the conference call with the campaigns, an IDP representative said the party would be “getting photos of the paper results sent over,” and quickly hung up refusing to answer questions from the campaigns even as frustrated staffers pushed for answers. A campaign staffer told Fox News the IDP’s brief call was “crazy.”

Later in the night at approximately 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning another call from the IDP, explained that the system to validate electoral results was taking longer than expected, but that there had been no hacking into the system or intrusion

However knowing the recent history of the Democratic Partiers attempt to sabotage the Sanders campaign during the 2016 presidential election, the skeptic in me, can’t help but consider that a clandestine conspiracy was hatched to disrupt Sanders momentum as the perceived frontrunner, heading into the New Hampshire primary.

The firm known as Shadow Inc which created the failed app is headed by a number of former Hillary for America staffers.

On its website, the firm explains the team is composed of “campaign and technology veterans who have built and implemented technology at Hillary for America, Obama for America, Google, Kiva, Apple, the AFL-CIO, and the DNC.

Another curious ingredient to my conspiracy theory is why the Iowa Democratic Party purposely decided not to identify the Clinton connection to the app creators or allow the technology to be tested by security cyber experts before its application.

Political analysts along with early returns moments after the caucus closed and before the meltdown began, had Vice President Biden in fourth place, along with Sanders running away with the lead.

Conspiracy or incompetence… you be the judge.
